LEGO Masters meets real world engineering
... a sneaky way to teach engineering!
Lando has done the best job among all competitors
... very different from other LEGO classes we've seen before
... the summer camp have been nothing short of extraordinary!
... really helped my kids focus and they felt successful with their accomplishments!
The Lando programs make engineering fun!

Embark on an iterative design journey

This will be the highlight of your kid’s week! Our carefully crafted engineering challenges will take your kids on an iterative design journey that will leave them feeling confident and inspired.

1. Start with a challenge

No instructions. Kids create their own designs, and build them with LEGOs and other easy to use building pieces.

2. Test and iterate

This is where the magic happens. The messy middle where kids test their own hypothesis, and learn.

3. Celebrate

Carefully playtested classes and skilled teachers means every class is guaranteed to be fun and rewarding!

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Lando different?

At Lando, our students learn to think like engineers, and solve real world engineering challenges through prototyping and iterating. We never give kids instructions, and instead encourage them to form their own designs, build them, and test them in the real world!

This takes a lot of attention from the teacher to make work, because kids need to constantly be building new ideas and testing them, and sometimes need 1-1 scaffolding to help improve their design. To pull this off in group classroom (because we believe kids learn best in social situations!), we've developed state of the art technology that allows kids to both test their builds, ask for personalized hints, and ask for more resources, all through our custom technology stations!

Our technology stations enables us to build high quality classes that are truly not found anywhere outside of private 1-1 classes.

What will my child be learning?

Every class, we introduce a new challenge focused around a theme, like "Engineering for Sustainability" or "Life of a Civil Engineer", and our students will learn about this theme, and key concepts surrounding the specific challenge.

For example, in our Air Filter challenge, kids will learn how air filters work. The key concept behind this class is figuring out how to block out the garbage while still letting the air through. Students, through iteration and many attempts, will figure out that the best way to do this is to build many progressively finer layers of filters with LEGOs, which they can test and see work (or fail!) in our custom built air tunnel.

Across all classes, we show kids that they don't need instructions to solve problems, and aim to teach kids that perseverance and iteration pays off!

I'm worried my child won't enjoy engineering!

Each one of our classes goes through many rounds of playtesting to make sure that they are engaging for boys and girls of all skill levels. Our technology enables scaffolding and challenge difficulties that adapt to each child, so that everyone has fun and feels empowered.

Our technology also gives kids a video-game like structure that gives fun feedback for their positive (and negative!) actions. Of course, our young engineers will be spending all of their time building and designing in the real world, but we've found that giving even the smallest video game structure provides so much engagement and motivation for kids. If your child likes video games, they'll love Lando!

How does Lando use technology in their classes?

Our technology enables us to build classes that have previously not been possible to teach. An iterative class like ours, where students are constantly designing, building, and testing their build, requires constant scaffolding and constant testing. Outside of 1-1 private classes, this type of attention is not possible.

Classes are traditionally structured in a lecture format not because it is the most effective way to teach, but because it is the only way to teach a classroom with just one teacher! With Lando technology, we're able to teach a new type of iteration based class, without the need for private instructors. This way, you get both the benefit of private instruction and an incredible curriculum, all in a group setting where your child is developing social skills!

How big are your classes?

Our classes are 16 students per class, with 2 teachers per class.

What is the age range for your classes?

Our classes are ideal for Gr 1 through 5, as our challenges have many levels, and quickly become customized for each individual student. It's approachable for a first grader, and engaging and challenging for a fifth grader!

Can I talk with a teacher about the classes prior to starting?

Yes! Please email Felix, our lead curriculum developer (felix@findlando.com), or Blake (blake@findlando.com), our lead teacher to schedule a call.

What is Lando's COVID-19 policy?

Our teachers are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and will be wearing masks during the entire duration of the class. We don't require children to wear masks.
